Oman Calls for Innovative Solutions to Tackle Negative Impacts of Climate Change

Oman wants the UN to create a database to help it plan for the effects of climate change, the Times of Oman reports.

The country's permanent representative to the UN, Idris Abdulrahman Al Khanjari, told the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Wednesday that the effects of climate change are already having an impact on the country's economy and people's lives.

He said Oman wants to create a database "to identify areas that are most vulnerable to the negative effects of climate change in the near, medium, and long future."

The Times of Oman says Khanjari also called for replacing production activities "in a manner that ensures the safety of human livelihoods, secures justice and equity, and respects social, economic, and environmental laws worldwide."
